Taking on 2 new projects for November

Websites, apps and online shops for businesses.

I'm David. I build websites and apps, design Shopify stores, help you get found on Google and by AI assistants like ChatGPT, and use AI to take the slog out of paperwork-heavy jobs. All explained in plain English.

Services

Six ways I help a business grow online

Start with one, or combine them. Every project begins with a free, no-obligation conversation about what your business actually needs.

Website reviews

Illustration of a laptop under a magnifying glass beside a ticked checklist

A plain-English review of your current site: what works, what is losing you customers, and whether it follows the UK rules on privacy, cookies and accessibility.

Website builds

Illustration of an old computer monitor with an arrow to a new laptop and phone

A new website, or a replacement for one that's letting you down. Fast, easy to use on a phone and set up so local customers find you on Google, so people can see what you do, where you are and how to reach you.

Not sure whether to replace your current site? Start with a check-up.

Apps for your business

Illustration of a desk calendar, a phone with a ticked list and a takeaway coffee

Booking and reservation systems, taking payments online, and other everyday apps for things like staff training, stock and orders, or dashboards. I'll help you choose the right off-the-shelf app, or build one that fits how you work.

Shopify online stores

Illustration of a tablet showing products, a shopping bag with a tick and a parcel

Stores for anything from a handful of products to thousands, planned with lessons learned in big retail. I train you to run products, prices and orders yourself.

Get found on Google and AI search

Illustration of a map pin over a hilltop village with a search bar and five-star review

Showing up when people search “near me” on Google, and when they ask AI assistants like ChatGPT for a recommendation. I set up your free Google Business Profile, help you gather reviews and organise your site so AI assistants can understand and recommend you.

Practical AI help

Illustration of a messy pile of papers turned into neat folders

Help with jobs buried in paperwork, using AI tools such as Claude: bids, tenders and grant applications, business plans, planning applications, making sense of financial or pension figures, and summarising legal documents. You don't need to know anything about AI.

How it works

From first chat to launch day, and after

You always know what's happening, what's next and what it costs.

  1. Illustration of a cup of tea beside a notebook checklist

    Talk it through

A free, no-obligation conversation over coffee or a call about your business, customers and goals.

  2. Illustration of a paper sketch becoming a website on a laptop

    Design and build

I build the site and show you how it's coming along as I go, in plain English.

  3. Illustration of a paper rocket launching from a laptop

    Launch

Your site goes live fast and secure, set up on Google, with training so you're confident from day one.

  4. Illustration of a watering can tending a plant with website windows for leaves

    Keep improving

Updates, reviews and advice whenever you want them, from someone local.

Plain English, always

No jargon and no baffling reports. If something matters, I explain why.

Made to measure

No off-the-shelf templates. Every site is planned and built for the business it serves.

Trained, not tied in

Training is included at launch. After the first three months, hosting and support runs month to month, and you can buy your site outright from £299.

Experience

Big-project experience. Now working directly for local firms.

Before serva.digital, I spent more than 35 years in IT and digital, including 20 years in e-commerce. I've worked for four digital agencies, building websites for some of the UK's biggest brands, as well as for IT service providers and consultancies. The same planning, testing and care now goes into every small-business project, without agency overheads.

  • 35+years in IT and digital, including 20 years in e-commerce
  • 24hlongest you'll wait for a reply to an enquiry
  • 1–2weeks to launch a typical single-page site
  • 3–6weeks for a typical Shopify store or ordering system
David, founder of serva.digital

Work directly with the person who builds your site

I've sat on both sides of the table. I've worked for four digital agencies, building websites for some of the UK's biggest brands, and I've been the client too, briefing agencies and holding them to account for major UK retailers. Now I build and support websites myself: faster, more personal and without agency overheads.

When a project needs specialist skills, I call on a network of trusted specialists, chosen for their quality, expertise and business sense. I still plan and oversee the work, and I remain accountable for it.

My work

Recent work

Real work for real businesses.

  • Pub website and staff app

    The White Swan

The pub now keeps its own beer boards and gig list up to date, from a phone.

  • Local service website

    The Oven Queen

Now first when people search locally for oven cleaning.

  • Drinks board app for a hospitality client

    Barrel

A live drinks board for pubs and festivals: one QR code, no app to download.

  • Pub game for the same client

    Barrel Run

An arcade game pub-goers play from the drinks board. The bell's gone. Leg it.

  • Restaurant website

    Thai Restaurant

All four menus online, and the owner changes dishes and prices himself.

  • Website check

    Website rules check

A plain-English check against the UK website rules, with a fix list.

More work, kept confidential

Some clients prefer not to be named, so these leave out the details that would identify them.

Kind words

In their words

A few words from people I've built for.

  • "The sites looking brilliant! Really chuffed with it."

    Emily, owner, The White Swan
    Read the story
  • "When a price changes or we add a new dish, I just update it on the website myself. It means the menus people see online match what we're actually serving, and I don't have to wait for anyone else to do it for me."

    Paul, owner
    Read the story
  • "I'd been putting off sorting a website for ages. David took it off my hands, listened to what I wanted and built something I'm really proud of. Customers tell me how good it looks, and he's always there if I need a hand."

    Hayley, owner, OvenQueen
